Passed! This Resolution Will Help The Rapid Development Of The New Energy Industry
The article (How To View The Development Of New Energy Vehicles) written by the editor some time ago mentioned that in early March, Germany and Italy publicly opposed the "2035 European Agreement on Zero Emissions for New Fuel Cars and Minivans". But recently, things have taken a turn for the better.
On the 28th local time, the Council of the European Union passed the 2035 ban on fuel vehicles, which means that starting from 2035, new fuel vehicles will not be able to be sold in 27 EU countries.
The new regulations reaffirm the phased and final emission reduction goals: From 2035, new cars and vans must achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions. The rule also retains exemptions for a small number of manufacturers, such as certain sports car brands, who are exempt from meeting mid-term CO2 reduction targets until the end of 2035.
The provision passed in the council with only Poland voting against it, with Bulgaria, Italy and Romania abstaining.
"The new rules will open up opportunities for cutting-edge technologies and create incentives for industry to invest in a future without fossil fuels," said Dutch MP Jan Huitema, the EU parliament's rapporteur for the regulation.
In mid-February, the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France voted 340 in favor, 279 against, and 21 abstentions, and passed the "2035 European Agreement on Zero Emissions for New Fuel Cars and Minivans". However, the agreement was delayed due to opposition from Germany and Italy.
It is reported that Germany asked the European Union to approve the use of synthetic fuels, and Italy asked for guarantees on the use of biofuels. After weeks of internal discussions, the European Commission met Germany's demands, but Italy's demand was rejected, so in this vote, Italy abstained. In a statement, the European Commission pointed out that after 2035, cars can be sold on the EU market using synthetic fuels.
