ToggleBackground
An off-site office in Western Australia has no grid power, so the office relies heavily on diesel generators to provide stable power. The office’s power demand fluctuates widely throughout the day, peaking at around 21 kW from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., stabilizing at 10 kW at night (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) and dropping to around 5 kW in the afternoon (12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Despite these fluctuations, diesel generators operate 24/7, resulting in unnecessary fuel waste, noise pollution, and high carbon emissions during low load periods.
- Location: Western Australia
- Project Type: Off-Grid Site Office
Equipment Model:EnergyPack P100
Delivery date: April 2024
Objective
The main objective of this project was to implement an efficient and sustainable energy solution to:
- Providing reliable power supply throughout the day and night
- Reducing diesel consumption and associated costs
- Minimizing noise pollution
- Lowering carbon emissions to support environmental sustainability
Site Setup
The solution involved integrating the EnergyPack P100 storage system with the existing diesel generator setup. The configuration included:
- EnergyPack P100 Storage System: This unit stores and manages electricity, optimizing power distribution and usage, especially during peak and low-load periods.
- Diesel Generator: This remained the primary power source but was used more efficiently. Generator only ran when battery levels were low, minimizing unnecessary operation and fuel consumption.
- FoxMind EMS: This energy management system provided full automation and remote monitoring capabilities, reducing the need for manual intervention. It intelligently managed the power supply between the EnergyPack and the diesel generator, ensuring optimal performance.
Results
The implementation of the EnergyPack P100 system has significantly improved efficiency and sustainability:
measure | Generator solutions | Hybrid solutions |
Daily generator operating hours | 24 hours | 7 hours |
Monthly fuel consumption | 5104 liters | 2405 liters |
Monthly CO2 emissions | 13423 kg | 6325 kg |
- Fuel savings: Monthly fuel consumption is reduced by approximately 52%, significantly reducing operating costs and reliance on diesel fuel.
- Reduced generator uptime: Diesel generators have seen a 73% reduction in uptime, which equates to a reduction of 6,394 hours per year.
- Reduced maintenance costs: Reduce uptime and increase efficiency, resulting in a 70% reduction in maintenance costs.
- Reduced carbon emissions: A 50% reduction in carbon emissions equates to a reduction of 7,098 kg of CO2 per month.
Customer Voice
“The EnergyPack P100 system has been a great addition to our off-grid site office. It reduced our diesel usage by over 50% and cut carbon emissions in half. The automated system runs smoothly and requires minimal intervention, making our operations more efficient and quieter. We’re very happy with the results and look forward to using this technology in future projects.”
